A small farmhouse kitchen....

hello my friends. I have had a good many inquiries on how I painted my kitchen cabinets, so I thought I would share a blog post on it.  Let me begin by saying I was 9 months pregnant with my son when we moved into our home.  The cabinets were an UGLY disgusting oak color.  (We all know I'm a huge fan of clean, light and bright.) I was tired, and working 12 hours each day to get everyone in before my 6 week maturnity leave.  So needless to say, when my best friend and I painted them for the first time we was in a hurry, and did not put a wax coating or poly them.  Throughput the few years we have been here ,they have been scratched and looked horrible.  I had a few people quote prices on painting them for me, but it was ALOT more than I was willing to pay.  Back in January, I marked April 8th off my salon book, and named this, "Ashley will paint her kitchen cabinets day."  I used Annie Sloan chalk paint.  I purchased the paint at https://foursquare.com/v/bcreative-guntersville/515de4efe4b0ff174bb73cfa Guntersville.  It took 1 whole can, half of another, and a whole can of the clear wax.  The whole cost of the painting was less than $100.00 (compared to $1350 for someone else to do it, I consider this a steal) I want new butcher block countertops, and a farmhouse sink, and my dream farmhouse kitchen will be complete.  For now, I am in LOVE with it.  I could just stare at it all day long.
My husband built this range hood from some scrap barn wood he had laying around in the garage.
He also built the open shelving for my white dishes we use for entertaining.  Gives me more cabinet space.

I purchased the antique chandelier at the old Walker Drug Store in Attalla.  I have been looking for one for months.  I went in last Monday, and there she was (she begged me to take her home with me). I hope this post has helped you all who are interested in tackling your kitchen reno.  It is very times consuming, but the finished product is worth all the time it takes.

Happy Monday my friends ♡
